Auto-flowering cannabis under LED

Cannabis seed in a glass of waterToday I have started a grow. An indoor autoflowering cannabis grow. I have ordered a 300w LED growing light on the Aliexpress website. I have ordered my automatic flowering cannabis seed. I am ready to start. At this moment my auto-flowering seed is floating in some water in a glass that stands on the box of my PC.  Nice warm temperature in 2 days it’s seed shell  will crack and I will put it into a small pot with good potting soil.

Weed Seed Germination

After two days in the glass of water the weed seed is cracked open and is the small root showing. The beginning of the germination of the autoflowering cannabis seed. Time to move the seed to the pot. Cover the weed seed under a thin layer of potting soil, don’t push the soil together. It is important the soil contains both air and saving light bulb

From this moment on the seed is in need of light.  It is a waste of energy to use the 300W LED light in this stage so I am using a 4W energy saving light bulb, as close as possible to the soil. This way it gives enough warmth and light for the first days of my cannabis sprout. Of course don’t do this with a regular 60W lamp or you will burn the weed sprout. A regular lamp produces too much heat!

The soil must be wet, not soaked. After a few days we will see the seed shell being pushed out of the soil by the growing weed root.

Sprouting Cannabis Seed

germinating cannabis seedToday the dwarf weed seed has worked it’s way up.  It’s root has been developing first and after that it had the power to rise it’s stem. The seed coat is still covering the first leaves (cotyledon) but they are showing vitality! Germinating auto-flower cannabis in progress! Enjoy these high quality photographs of this beautiful auto-flowering marijuana.

Seed Germination

After the seed has made it to a new location and is covered with dirt, it can begin germination. Germination is the process of seeds developing into new plants. First, environmental conditions must trigger the seed to grow. Usually, this is determined by how deep the seed is planted, water availability, and temperature. When water is plentiful, the seed fills with water in a process called imbibition. The water activates special proteins, called enzymes, that begin the process of seed growth. First the seed grows a root to access water underground. Next, the shoots, or growth above ground, begin to appear. The seed sends a shoot towards the surface, where it will grow leaves to harvest energy from the sun. The leaves continue to grow towards the light source in a process called photomorphogenesis.

Growing weed with energy saving light bulbs

energy saving light bulbI will only use it for the first 3 days but it is possible to grow cannabis under fluorescent lights only. You will need to use some more lights though. As you can see in the picture it did the job.

Energy saving light bulbs or compact fluorescent lights can be found at any hardware or grocery store, they actually give off a really great light spectrum for growing weed.

Advantages of growing weed with energy saving light bulbs fluorescent lights
